PUPIL PREMIUM & SPORTS PREMIUM
The Sports Premium Funding is awarded by the government and should be used for the following five areas:
- increasing all staff’s confidence, knowledge and skills in teaching PE and sport
- increasing engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity and sport
- raising the profile of PE and sport across the school, to support whole school improvement
- offer a broader and more equal experience of a range of sports and physical activities to all pupils
- increase participation in competitive sport
How do we spend our Sports Premium Funding?
At West Meon, we believe that children benefit both mentally & physically, from taking part in a range of sports and outdoor experiences. We promote participation and engagement in sporting activities and use our funding to enable this.

Reporting PE & Sport Premium Grant Expenditure
Pupil Premium is additional funding awarded by the government to help schools support pupils from low-income and other disadvantaged families. If a pupil has been eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) at any point over the past 6 years or has been looked after for one day or more (Child Looked After), the school receives an amount per head within their budget. A provision is also made for pupils who have a parent in the armed services.
The funding is used by the school to provide additional support to these pupils, this might be support with academics or to provide extra emotional or well-being support.
